Jan honed her storytelling skills during her years in the trenches as an army wife, entertaining her five children during long car trips while moving from one duty station to another. With a degree in Speech and Drama, Jan has appeared in many productions and was a member of the Old Lyric Repertory company.
Jan is a former high school drama teacher. She currently is a reading teacher in a Title I school. She uses the power of stories to entice reluctant readers. A workshop presenter with innovation and insight and a storyteller who strikes a chord with humor, Jan believes stories make us laugh, connect us to our past, and keep us sane in a crazy world.
Jan is a member of the Olympus Chapter of the Utah Storytelling Guild and the National Storytelling Network. Jan has seized opportunities to learn at the feet of master tellers. Listen for laughter as adult audiences appreciate her piece “Love is Blind- At least it Makes you Want to Close your Eyes” – spotlighting the love stories in her family. Sense the anticipation as elementary students sit in rapt attention listening to “The Gift of the Crocodile”. Jan turns a phrase turns up the humor and grabs the Ah ha moment.
